Global Fund for Children is an organization that invests in community-based organizations around the world to help children and youth reach their full potential and advance their rights. I will be using this organization to broaden my knowledge on issues and threads in the childhood field. I chose this organization because their mission is to advance the dignity of children and youth around the world. GFC pursues its mission by making small grants to innovative community-based organizations working with some of the world's most vulnerable children and youth, complemented by a dynamic media program that, through books, documentary photography, and film, highlights the issues affecting children and celebrates the global society in which we all live.

Global Fund for Children identifies local organizations that are working with children and their families and fund their life-changing programs along with their organizational development, and build movements of social change.

Global Fund for Children advances the rights of children across. four focus areas and five regions. They are committed to working with, and encouraging organizations that support young people facing poverty, injustice, and discrimination.

This week I will be posting a video on children living in the streets of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

To many families and young children the fears of the unknown, and the journey to a foreign country out way the horrors of living in the streets and in impoverished communities.

In regards to our current of changing demographics and diversity immigration is one of biggest reason for our population growth. Many immigrants arrive at the U.S. southern borders looking for a new life and the "American Dream" trying to escape the inhuman lifestyles of living in the streets and corrupted cities. Migration translates into a series of complex and unprecedented vulnerabilities that begin in girls’ communities of origin and that are exacerbated along – and long after – the journey. Below is an infographic launched by Global Fund for Children to raise awareness about the specific situations and needs of adolescent migrant girls (Global Fund for Children, 2020).

Cynthia,

I love the cartoon flyer, it really capture my attention. It also was very informative and held my attention. I liked the way it was an easy read that the average person can understand. I am not familiar with global fund for children, but look forward to learning more from you.

Thanks for sharing.

The cartoon of a Migrant Girl's journey is really informative. If we showed this cartoon to more people, maybe there would be a higher rate of acceptance in the world. Thanks for sharing!

I was with a group of individuals who turned down free supper for all children this week. It hurt to know that I was outvoted for providing free meals to children, it hurts even more to watch the video from Dhaka and think as an American we had a choice to not provide.
